NEW TOYOTA AYGO PRICES AND SPECIFICATONS

NEW TOYOTA AYGO PRICES AND SPECIFICATONS

Available as either a three- or five-door hatchback, at launch three trim levels will be available: x, x-play and x-pression, plus flagship special edition x-cite and x-clusiv variants.

Standard equipment across the second-generation model’s range includes 14-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, a 2-speaker audio system with AUX and USB connectivity, hill start assist technology and electric front windows.

Also included on entry-level x models (£8,595 – £8995) and above are wireless door locks, a seatbelt warning system, projector headlights with LED tracer light, as well as ABS and Vehicle Stability Control.

Opting for mid-range x-play (£9,795 – £10,895) increases the wheels to 15-inches, finishes the distinctive front X in contrasting ‘Piano’ black, and matches the door handles and mirror to the body colour.

Inside, leather trim is added to the steering wheel and gear stick, the audio system doubles to 4 speakers, and there are extra features in the form of air condition with a clean air filter, 50:50 split-folding rear seats and Bluetooth. Helping customers adjust to these changes, steering wheel-mounted audio and phone control switches are included in the upgrades, too.

Top-spec x-pression (£10,995 – £12,095) build on this with further ‘Piano’ black details on the A-pillars and rear bumper, while the 15-inch wheels become silver alloys.

Front fog lights and a rear-view camera are equipped for added peace of mind, whilst stylistic improvements include part-leather sports-style seats, a chrome finish for the interior door handles and body colour-matched instrument panel. Customers will also enjoy the added benefits of DAB digital radio and x-touch infotainment tech with MirrorLink.

This x-touch multimedia system is likewise fitted to the two range-topping models, and uses aseven-inch colour touchscreen – but sat nav is a £395 optional extra. Coupled with Toyota’s MirrorLink function, x-touch lets users replicate the screen of compatible smartphones, allowing access applications via the in-car display.

Based on x-pression trim, x-cite and x-clusive offer additional design features. In x-cite (£11,195 – £12,295) this comes in the form of 15-inch gloss black alloys with orange centre cap, a theme which carries through for the instrument panel and centre console, in this case with Orange Twist air vent surrounds.

Selecting x-clusiv (11,295 – £12,395) sees the 15-inch alloys machine finished and fitted with a large black centre cap and chrome surround. Elsewhere, ‘Super’ chrome is used for the rear bumper insert, front X and A-pillar x-tension. On top of this, there instrument panel and centre console are Piano black and there are dusk-sensing headlights.

Extensive personalisation options

With a clear emphasis on individual customisation, Toyota is offering a choice of five paint schemes for the standard Aygo range: White Flash, Silver Splash, Electro Grey, Deep Blue Buzz and Red Pop. Meanwhile, both limited edition models will be offered in only one body colour, orange Twist for the x-cite and Bold Black for range-topping x-clusiv.

Further personalisation is possible thanks to optional extras such as the x-tra premium pack for the special edition variants, this adds leather upholstery, alongside Smart Entry and Start. For x-play and x-pression, INstyle serves a similar purpose, adding leather seats with a choice of four accent colours.

x-pression comes with a choice of two unique packs, with one equipping exterior chrome touches and the other automatic air con, dusk-sensing headlights, Smart Entry and push-button start.

For those with wear and tear in mind, everything above entry-level x trim can be fitted with OUTshield, this includes front and rear parking sensors, mud flaps and aluminium scuff plates.

Toyota is also offering mix-and-match styling packs and updates as well; these range from £195 to £499 and allow for changes to everything from alloy colour and design, to interior trim and bumper details.

For all this choice, the only engine option is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol, with either a five-speed manual or an x-shift automatic that’s available from x trim upwards. Although this unit sees the Aygo hit 0-62mph in 14.2 seconds, identical to the outgoing model, it cuts emissions by 4g/km to 95g/km and boosts economy by 3.3mpg to 69mpg.
